I love it and am fascinated by it, so thanks for sharing that. I never got to know Leiber, but what I did see of him, he came across as a really cool, nice guy.
And Bob, as soon as I read your comment I could here that Four Freshman version of Angels Eyes in my mind's ear. It was way better than the one in the Times, either NY's or LA's. Thanks too for the Four Fresh-men video. We should look around and see if we can find a video of the Freshmen doing "Angel Eyes," the song I wooed my first college girl-friend with in 1959. The tune has a drop-dead gorgeous bridge and a beautiful minor-key finale.
Bob B.Robert Bernernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567168789336947243.post-56439128762738425782011-08-24T15:49:00.425-04:002011-08-24T15:49:00.425-04:00It's nice to read your blog about these amazin...It's nice to read your blog about these amazing men, actually passing on the same day. You may know Arnold was a great friend of Jerry. Tony and I occasionally saw Jerry here in LA, but we are great friends of his ex-wife Gaby Rodgers, who also lives in LA. We last saw Jerry at a lovely birthday party he gave for Gaby a year ago.
And, Ashford & Simpson were one of the first groups Tony directed when he was directing MTV videos.
Bless them both.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
