QUOTE FROM MONK
"You know what's the loudest noise in the world, man? The loudest noise in the world is silence." —Thelonius Monk (as quoted in THELONIOUS MONK: The Life and Times of an American Original)
Nice. Reminds me of this Mingus quote (though I've only read it online, so I'm not sure of its origins): "Anyone can make the simple complicated. Creativity is making the complicated simple".
Eve, mucho thanks for such kind words. Miles, I think Ned Rorem the compsoer said something like: "It's hard to be easy." I always saw my job as writer/poet/musician/actor/etc. to be to make the subtle seem obvious and the obvious seem subtle. Or something like that.

ReplyDeleteThe world is a better place because Michael Lally is in it! Lv, Eve
