SMART ANALYSIS (AS USUAL) FROM DIGBY AT HULLABALOO
Of the dehumanizing of the Occupy Wall Street protesters. Here.
It has been the method that personalities like Limbaugh and the host of other right wing radio and tv icons deal with the opposition. It is easier to hate someone if you believe they are inhuman. Sadly it seems to work judging by the number of people I hear parroting them.
Too true Tom. And outside of some on MSNBC and on the internet, the media mostly ignores the incredible diversity among the Occupy Wall Street movement. As I've written, there's cops and firemen, and ex-cops and ex-firemen, many veterans from all our wars, all ages, ethnicities and "races" (a designation I don't think is very scientific but unfortunately many still use), etc. Even just among people I know who have taken part there is enormous diversity in all the categories mentioned above as well as in educational and economic background etc.
