good monday morning - i'd like to hear a bit about yesterdays' talk, reading, etc...
It was a spontaeous improvisation based roughly on THE SOUTH ORANGE SONNETS, (reading a selection and riffing on race and ethnicity and love and politics as I have experienced them and my perspective on others' experiences and the changes that have occurred in my lifetime embodied by the presidential campaigns this year etc.) with a couple of even shorter poems as reference points, opening with NEWARK POEM and closing, in answer to a question about how I identify myself now with MY LIFE 2 which is on this blog to the right.
I must say, I love the ethical culture people. back in my antiViet Nam War activist days I used to love speaking at Quaker meetings. Both these groups seem to be truly commited to peace and to living by the golden rule.
