Here's a thought. I don't think the Republicans would have nominated McCain if they thought any Republican could win this year. He's not well liked among many Republicans. He's old and not healthy. He's not likeable. He comes from another era. He's one of those old party guys who has put in his time and thinks he's entitled to the presidency. And since the republicans know it's a loser year for them (due to the unpopular war, the miserable economy and embarassments like torture and wiretapping), this is put up or shut up for John McCain. If he wins, great for him. If he loses, he shuts up and goes away.

In other words, he's Bob Dole.
