Obama should ask Gary Snyder to write a poem and read it for his inauguration and then make Snyder head of the Environmental Agency.

Several weeks ago you posted an Obama dream cabinet. Minutes before I flipped to your page I watched this:

Though it would never, ever happen I would like Suheir Hammad to read a poem at the inauguration.

What a great idea. Not only would it spark some positive echoes of JFK (killed 45 years ago yesterday) and his inauguration but it would also highlight someone who's been walking the environmental talk for more than half a century. But what I like best about your idea is that Snyder's a (as far as I know) a non-academic artist, someone who integrates his work directly into the world.
