AH RITA

Caught this scene in a movie on TCM tonight and left me thinking was there anyone ever lovelier to watch on film than Rita Hayworth? I was in love with her as a kid, and still am. Even though she didn't get the best movies or best music too often. But she made the best of everything she ever did.

And though there may have been more stunning beauties or more compelling actors or more iconic legendary movie stars, there was never anyone who looked like they were having as much fun as she did when she danced with Fred Astaire, who said she was his favorite dancing partner.

Here's the clip, not the greatest music and someone else's voice when Rita sings, but the dancing is all hers:

What a dance- loved watching these two right down to the shoes. Thanks for posting that. Entranced by Rita? You are in good company- her 5 husbands including Orson Welles & a Prince...were spellbound as well.

One of the things I loved most was the way she was so loose, especially watch her arms toward the end. There's no other dancer in films who moved like she did. Delightful to watch.

Lal--You are so right about Rita in this clip--dazzling.
But for sheer beauty, I'd offer also Ava Gardner in the voluptuary scene in "Night of the Iguana."
And Fred Astaire in the apache with Cyd Charisse in, I think it was, "Bandwagon" ain't too shabby either.

In the ealy 60s I was a student at Villanova and had picture of Rita Hayworth, in a nightgown, on the inside of dorm door; that is until a priest who was the dorm procter saw it. I believed he admired it but insisted that I take it down.
