MARC PICKERING AS NUCKY THOMPSON AS A YOUNG MAN

Brilliant. If you watch BOARDWALK EMPIRE and saw tonight's episode where Steve Buscemi's character "Nucky Thompson" flashes back to when he was a young assistant sheriff, the actor who plays him at that age is a young English actor who proved himself in THE BORGIAS and other shows and movies and tonight made me think for a minute it had to either be Steve Buscemi's son or the actual Steve Buscemi with some kind of CGI that erased the years from his face. But no, it was just feckin' brilliant acting.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who was impressed by his performance. I was convinced the guy was Buscemi's son. He's incredible.

I so love this series & am sad that it is ending but what a hell of an ending to bring forth the young "Nucky" played by Marc Pickering who conveys a younger version so amazingly. It's a virtuoso performance to slip into the skin of the lead role at a younger age. Bravo!

Thanks for this posting. It was driving me crazy, just like the rest of you. I kept thinking it had to be another actor, but said no, cus mannerisms were just like Steve Buscemi's. REally. And for while I thought it might be the actor on the Good Wife - Alan Cumming, but it was really a stretch. Amazing actor! And had to be hard with those teeth in his mouth, w/out lisping, etc. I'd like to read more about his prep for this role.

This young man is playing two roles in one in my opinion. He plays Steve Buscemi and NUcky Thompson... Brilliant acting I agree!!!!!

I can honestly say out of all of the characters I've ever seen being portrayed by a younger actor, Marc Pickering is by far the BEST I've ever seen. Not only does he capture the character's demeanor, but he literally captured the facial expressions, the way he spoke, all of it was just amazing. I'd be willing to go as far as to say he could have easily replaced Buscemi as the lead role if it ever came to that.

My wife and I are both convinced that Buscemi dubbed the voice. Does anyone know for sure?

My daughter and I were amazed at Marc Pickering's performance. i like many of you was convinced that her must have been Steve Buscemi's son or some close relative. He has done an excellence job as the young Nucky Thompson. He has captured the voice, the moves of his body and his his facial expressions. i was really blown away when I read that he is British. i hope to see much more from this young man even though Boardwalk Empire has ended.4625

I've been bowled over by Marc Pickering's performance too and I also for a moment thought it was Alan Cumming (but this guy is much younger). Just like everyone else who comments here, I was amazed how accurately he replicates Buscemi playing Nucky - remember the first scene Marc appeared in? Well, he had his back to the camera as the scene opened, turning very slightly towards the crab lady. Within seconds (and before he turned around) we knew it was meant to be Nucky, simply because of Mr Pickering's brilliant representation. Before the actor turned round I actually started to wonder how they had made Steve Buscemi look like his young self. Amazing.

I am surprised nobody seems to realise that the young Nucky has brown eyes while old Nucky's eyes are pale blue. It was the first thing I noticed
