PERSPECTIVE

As the "funding for the war" bill gets tossed around and reworked, it might be nice to check out just what that funding means. My friend Tom on his Coolbirth blog had a link to a site that makes it clear. Check it out.

And Congress, who is supposed to have oversight, who is supposed to control the purse strings, who is supposed to be controlled by the "opposition party", is instead composed of people who voted to authorize the war in the first place.
Now, instead of fighting to END the war, they are fighting to FUND the war. The Republicans want to give him another blank check, and the Democrats want to attach non-binding timetables about when the war is supposed to end.
For his own part, Bush is holding out for a blank check for billions and billions of dollars. And who can blame him? Congress keeps writing those blank checks.
