NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED

Well, since they have Palin in protective custody, forbidden from answering any questions from the public and the press, guess we gotta find our answers elsewhere. Thanks to The Kid for this link.

As with Oprah Winfrey, I can see that the media and pro-women's groups are rushing to speak with Palin. Most are interested in such deep political issues as whether she is still breast feeding.

The letter has been tampered with by admission. A college grad would have better writing style. The compliments mixed with criticism would normally seem like an opinion, but the incoherence and/or lack of continuity at some points in the letter show either different authors or in the least bi-polar behavior.

Any clear thinking person would dismiss this version and ask for the original.

But then again, Palin may have just beat her out at point guard in high school and she has never gotten passed it.

like so many other things political, particularly with the gop over the past eight years, divergent tactics are employed - anything to keep our eye off the ball ...

questions need to be asked and answers must be given at this stage of the campaign - this is the time when when the public is entitled to full disclosure - lies, manipulation of fact, and deception don't serve to protect any national security or the well-being of the candidate - which by definition means a person under application and examination for a position ...

compliance with and access to the media help to define a persons' character - unlike the countless appearances and speeches of gw bush with his captive military audiences [who he employed] ...
i'd like to see some unstaged, unscripted meet the public q & a's ...

there are serious - and often gender-specific questions that need to be asked of palin regarding her experience [some of which is maternal], her psychological proclivities, and her prowess as a government employee ...

the same questions need to be asked of mccain - including his wobbling on personal domestic issues, the real truth about pow related hero stories and attempts to legistlate the sealing of records, vacillating between party and lobby interests which later gets fit into sound bytes about crossing the aisles maverikism ...

and what about his competancy in his choice of palin - eloborate on the details of the vetting process and time spent with her to make a decision - or was he just succumbing to his party's pressure as a political strategy - is this new politics, and if not, isn't it a little early in the campaign to be blatantly displaying some of the 'same old' ...
i think the gop is counting on the fact that there's more unanswered questions than time between now and november, and in typical fashion they'll continue to withhold while displaying the necessary pop iconography that feeds their constituency ...

the public deserves real answers - not pre-packaged rhetoric spoon-fed to a press corp that's affraid that by offending the candidates they'll later be denied access ...

a swiss journalist friend said we don't require answers from the right questions ...

now that each party's party is over and their celebrity has risen to new heights - do we really think we have access to anything more than spin and the opinions of spin makers from a biased media?

palin is getting the same, if not better security than brittany spears - nice to be in government ...

She will be interviewed by Chas Gibson of ABC this week.

Hopefully someone will ask Palin directly if she wanted to ban books and hopefully we will get a direct answer. But I am being audiciously hopeful. I doubt she'll answer it.

In the gubernatorial debate in '06 she was asked directly if whe would vote for or against rural preference for hunting and fishing. Both her opponents said unequivocally they would vote yes for such a preference. She refused to answer yes or no, but was clearly against it as she said "it was already in the constitution" to deal with such issues. This is what we can expect from her. Hem and haw.

She's in the cone of silence.

Charlie Gibson is out trying to find out if Atheists have a Creator before the interview.

If they don't, from where do they claim their rights are endowed? By Man? By governmeent?

If our Founding Fathers in their Wisdom stated that our rights are endowed by our Creator wouldn't we all be Creationists in the USA?

In an effort to separate the wheat from the chaff, a brief compilation of rumors and realities follows:

Palin Hates Special Needs Kids - False. CNN and the LA Times both reported that Palin had cut funds for special needs programs by 62%. This lie is particularly egregious in light of Palin's youngest child having been born with Down Syndrome. The truth, as reported by Alaska's Education Week, is that Palin signed legislation which tripled funding for special needs programs (and she had asked for even higher increases). Special needs programs have seen funding increases every year that Palin has been in office.

Palin Burns Books - False. Apparently, this widely disseminated e-mail attributed to Anne Kilkenny accuses Palin of attempting to ban a long list of library books (some of which hadn't yet been published by the date of the alleged incident) and subsequently firing the librarian who dared oppose her Nazi-esque machinations. In fact, Palin never attempted to ban any books and the librarian in question retired three years after the reported firing.

Palin is a Secessionist and Theocrat - False. Various rumors contend that Palin is either a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a secessionist group, or (far worse in the eyes of the media) a supporter of Pat Buchanan. According to the Independence Party Chairwoman, Palin has never been a member, and merely attended a meeting held in the city of which she was mayor as a courtesy. The closest Palin comes to being a supporter of Buchanan is her having worn a Buchanan button - again as a courtesy - during the latter's 2000 presidential campaign stop in her city. Palin actually worked on the campaign of Steve Forbes in that election.

Palin Hates Science and Indoctrinates Kids - False. Gloria Steinem begins her LA Times rant against Palin by shrieking that the governor would impose the teaching of creationism on all schoolchildren. Yet, as the AP corrects, Palin simply stated that she did not believe there should be "a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class." She immediately added: "It [creationism] doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

Palin Scares the Hell out of Democrats - Absolutely True! The more a vicious partisan fears an opponent, the more desperate and despicable will be his tactics. Leftists have launched shameful attacks against Palin's character, society and family. They so cover themselves in shame because they fear the energy, ideology and prospects which she has infused into the McCain campaign and the Republican Party. And, it seems that they have reason to fear!
