THEY'RE NOT JUST GONNA GO AWAY

The country proved it has gone beyond its racist past and even beyond the divisiveness of the past few decades.

But that doesn't mean the right wingnuts are going to go along with these times that are a'changin'.

There's been a lot of reports about the pockets of rightwing extremists and their often racist actions and the rightwing media nuts egging them on as they have been for decades but especially virulently during this campaign.

Here's a link to a pretty funny and pointed reaction to that reality.

All that and the Dems are trying to steal the Senate election in Minnesota. Rush and his buddies can't even wait for him to be sworn in. I see the rehabilitation of Palin has begun too.

only the election is over - and what won the election was a grassroots plea and uprising from citizens tired of the same old shite from elected officials and myopic beltway politics ...

obama won a gentlemans' challenge despite the lies and disparaging accusals launched by his opponent and their affiliates - but there's no reprisal to the challenge except the symbolic shift of power at the top of the legistlative branches ...

i believe this "change" that people were seeking only two weeks ago was something more fundemental - and if we can glean just a little from history, this is where we have to roll up our sleeves and get dirty ...

the gop and limbaughites are fast at work devising new strategies for derailing any attempt at success ...

this is where the "change" mechanism needs to assert some authority of intolerence to the dishonesty and coercive prejudice by dismantling their venue and enlightening the ignorantly deluded by holding them accountable ...

this is a civil war of ideas and information ...

now is not the time to revel in success - that's what we've done in the past - that's what they expect - if ever there was a time to take action, it is while the 'majority' has a voice ...

if this cancer of right wingnut disinformation isn't tactically removed the "change" will only be symbolic ...

hopefully the truth will out ...

Is this inapropriate, even if the church teaches that abortion is murder?

‘Intrinsic Evil’: South Carolina Priest Says No Communion for Obama Voters

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil."

just another example of wingnut self righteousness gone tilt - and essentially no different from the diatribe spewn by the e.i.b. network ...

i bet the priest subscribes to the limbaugh letter ...

guns and religion, pit bulls and lipstick, cheerleaders and racists, six packs and wrestlemania, arrogance and supremacy ...

Nice Paul. Almost poetic, vitriolic, moveon.orgish, but you missed anti Catholic.

so to disagree is to be anti ...
sounds pretty black and white jim ...

The Pope and the bishops have affirmed church doctrine to be anti abortion. The SC priest has said to his congregation that they should not support politicians that have and do support abortion if there is a reasonable alternative on the ballot. If you are a Catholic and accept Church doctrine then it is reasonable that you would support the church doctrine with your vote. The church is certainly within it's right to hold Catholics to that standard. This a free country, nobody has to be a practicing Catholic.

That's why I switched. Thought I was given free will, but no the church says this the church says that, must follow, not think. Um... or not!!! I may be a liberal with a psychiatric problem but I'll take free thinking over being told how to vote and who to vote for, thank you very much. Call me what you will but I'm feeling like an American who is proud of the wave of change that might come if Jim et al don't spoil it for the rest of us.

It's the hypocrisy that gets me. The Bible has nothing to say about "abortion" and only mentions anything resembling "homosexuality" twice, but it condemns (including Jesus) divorce and adultery and again and again, recommending stoning for those who commit those "sins," yet the righwingers hail the divorced Reagan as their Savior (as well as so many others) and never mention that the divorce rate is highest in the Bible belt and among Evangelicals (as compared to the liberal NorthEast and atheists, (Massachusettes having the lowest divorce rate in the USA) and teen pregnancy of course is more apt to happen among those "practicing abstinence" rather than among those being taught safe sex etc. Plus the Catholic Church condemns all murder, including the death penalty, which means anyone who voted for Bush Junior shouldn't be given communion either, and so on endlessly. But the right isn't interested in reality, facts or reason, they're only interested in the ideology of personal gain and less government to get in the way of it and getting and maintaining power by any means necessary including lies distortions and the use of violence whether metaphorical or real.

You guys seem to going round the bend. Nothing that the SC priest, the Pope or the bishops said applies to any one but practicing Catholics. Since you choose to "Switch" or not observe the Church's rules, it does not apply to you. If someone chooses to be a practicing Catholic, then that choice includes adhering to the rules. No harm no foul for non practicing Catholics.

I don't agree with it, but then again I have not been a practicing Catholic. Hopefully a higher up church offical will support the priest.

It is good to see Obama challanged by the Church on his anti life stance.
