I always appreciated the cleverness of the music and lyrics, and the set up etc. but happening on this scene again tonight on TV was the first time I actually began to identify with the characters! Quite moving for this old post-brain-op dude. The song comes in around two minutes in, but this is the best selection because it gives you the set up in case you never saw it or don't remember.

That scene is absolute perfection. Even the lighting- their silhouettes against that cloud puffed pink sky adds to the magic. "The most charming and enduring excuse for infidelity I have ever heard.. " Oh boy...oh boy.... just love it :-)
I hope the big screen version is still intact and they bring it back to some theaters soon. I'd love to see a New York movie theater devoted to old musicals. What a breath of fresh air that would be, you could duck in get some relief for a couple of hours from the endless squabbles and depressing news coming at you all day long etc. Or I mean I could. I do that with old flicks on TV, ending most days with one to settle my brain and heart, but to see them the way they were intended to be seen is so much more gratifying. If I was a young entrepreneur ….
Uh, er... Am I standing up too close or back too far?
