Before my brain op when I was a compulsive list maker, one of the kinds of lists I'd make was of trinities, lists of three top favorite this or that or groups of threes with a common theme etc.
Haven't done one now in years, but watching a little of THE BIG SLEEP tonight my brain started making an obvious list of the three great Bogie/Bacall movies and then I thought of doing a few more of other favorite actors so here's what I came up with:
TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT
THE BIG SLEEP
KEY LARGO
THE WILD ONES
ON THE WATERFRONT
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
THE GODFATHER
LAST TANGO IN PARIS
BURN
PUBLIC ENEMY
ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES
WHITE HEAT
BABY FACE
THE LADY EVE
DOUBLE INDEMNITY
CITY STREETS
STREET SCENE
DEAD END
THIS GUN FOR HIRE
THE BLUE DAHLIA
THE GLASS KEY
SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS
I MARRIED A WITCH
SO PROUDLY WE HAIL!
RED RIVER
A PLACE IN THE SUN
FROM HERE TO ETERNITY
STAGECOACH
SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON
THE SEARCHERS
DANCE GIRL DANCE
HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY
THE QUIET MAN
(I ran out of inspiration)

Some of my favorite films are listed here.
Aha! Delighted to see BURN! in your lists. Most people I know have never heard of it before. Although it has flaws I think it should be required viewing for people to understand the evils of colonialism.
Also delighted to see your facility for lists making a comeback.
It would be interesting to know how the brain op has affected your poetry writing to date, if at all. If you've already done that I must have missed it.
K, the way I did it was to come up with favorite old movie stars and then think of my favorite three flicks for each, or in some cases movie star pairings, etc...
and Bob, the biggest difference in writing poetry pre and post-op is how much time and energy I have to put into retyping/rewriting because my initial creation is so full of typos and picking a different word than I intended etc....sometimes in the past that could make for interesting phrases and word choices etc. creating a more unique poetry, but in post-op times it's mostly been just getting confused or losing focus or feeling anxious because of too much stimuli etc. so if anything what I write has become more careful and focused, even if that doesn't appear to be the case to others...
This is great. So many of these I love and are my favs but I must admit I have not seen BURN but I will now. Enjoyed reading each Trinity and naming the actor/actors you were thinking of. Brando & Veronica Lake - double Trinity & Bogey & The Duke popped up in other Trinities too! I've said this before- you should run a weekly film festival. You've got so much in that head of yours and your selections are superb-
thanks Jen...yeah the two star pairings were Bogie and Bacall and Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd...but Lake had her own trilogy too since she was my first movie star crush...the toughest to figure out for most folks would probably be Sylvia Sydney (sp?) who I loved in DEAD END but really didn't learn to appreciate as an artist til I was way older and caught her earlier flicks on TCM...
