McCain's birth certificate says he was born in Panama.
Obama's says he was born in the USA.
If McCain had been elected and anyone wanted to bring a lawsuit against him saying he wasn't born in the USA, the answer from the right would be: he was born to US citizens.
Obama's mother was a US citizen when he was born in Hawaii. But if he had been born in Panama?
The hardline rightwing will never be satisfied with proof. Reality has nothing to do with their arguments. or very little. The reality is, for them, Obama is "other" and "other" is frightening and one of the forms fear most often takes is anger.

Thats a crock. He should just produce the long form birth certificate like my 15 year old twins had to do to get a driving permit. The State of Hawaii govenment site says that the long form birth certificate is preferable because it is irrefutable. Officals in Hawaii say they have seen it, so it supposedly exists. Produce it and be done with it.
Dear M:
We shouldn't be surprised---a lot of what the right engages in is projection, with a dose of doublespeak thrown in. Of course McCain was constitutionally not qualified to be president. He was not born in the USA, period. Case closed. It seemed incredible to many of us during the campaign that the media were ready to turn away from this very clear reality. And of course the right turned away completely, never ever being comfortable with reality. If McCain had won, what would that have meant for this longstanding constitutional requirement? And now that they have been booted out, what do these pathetic, unpatriotic republicans do?---challenge the very citizenship of our nation's Chief Executive, the Commander-in-Chief of our country's armed forces! And they are engaging in this activity during wartime. It's unbelievable. Personally, I think this spurious questioning of the President's credentials is treasonous. These people---these worst of sore losers---are undermining the United States, at home and abroad.

you better believe that if there were anything substantive about the allegation they would have derailed obama a long time ago ...
obama's taking the high road by not playing into it ...
its just more sh-t slinging from the right to make others look wrong ...
the new "fear" is that they're alleging obama's healthcare advocates euthanasia for the elderly ...
oh yeah - the seven blue dogs have received over 700k from the health care industry for campaign $'s - this recess should foster some momentum from the pharmaceutical industry as well ...
i recall a time when 'blue dog' was just a memorable sign of unrequited love [g.g.marquez] - shame on them ...
TP,
Interesting that Liberals believe that a combat vetern son of and grand son of admirals representing three generations of military that have fought for yours and other anti American loony liberals freedon, should be considered non qualified for the presendency, but the lawyer for the criminal organization ACORN is qualified.
God bless America!
I'm curious Jim: How do you explain the announcements of Obama's birth in two separate newspapers in real-time? You might want to check out this article, which is short and sweet: http://tinyurl.com/lgld5p
Alameda Tom,
I assume he is a citizen, but if my kids have to submit long form birth certificates for a driving permit, a candidate for president should have to supply one too. Obama has been more secretive than most, if not all recent candidates for president. His school records, passport, college thesis etc., have all been kept from public view. The mainstream press did a poor job of vetting him, like they did all other recent candidates. As a result, many are just beginning to know him through his socialist proposals and his "Stupidity" remark.
Wait a tick. You "assume" Obama is a citizen as if there is legitimate doubt that this were true. The massive and ridiculously thorough intelligence network that can peek into a tent in Afghanistan can figure out that a man is not a citizen before he is elected president. As far as the secretive Presidential problem find me a copy of Bush's passport and I'll show you mine.
