I'm seeing a lot of blogs and Facebook posts generating comments condemning Islam and/or immigrants. So I just thought it might be time to make some things we all know, or should know, clear.
The worst violence ever perpetrated in this country was caused by European immigrants against the original natives of this country.
Second worst violence was started and caused by fellow citizens who decided they didn't want to abide by their own country's laws if it meant giving up their slaves, or initially keeping them but not being able to expand the territory in which that was legal.
So if any one group is going to be generalized as violent, it would have to be first Anglo-Americans and second Southerners, as they caused the most violence ever in our history (and before you send comments, many in my extended clan live in the South and I'm not disparaging Southerners, or Anglos, I'm criticizing those who make generalities based on prejudice, pre-judging a group based on some in that group's actions etc.).
Most deadly "terrorist" attack in the USA before 9/11 was perpetrated by a rightwing "American"—Timothy McVeigh.
All the presidential assassins in our history were American citizens. (One was the son of Polish immigrants, but he himself was "American" and another, Lincoln's assassin, was the son of English immigrants.)
It is also pretty clear the majority of all those who caused all the violence referenced above were Christians, or at least brought up as Christians.
[It also seems clear that most of the death and destruction caused by "our side" in our last three big wars (the little ones as well actually)—i.e. Viet Nam, Afghanistan and Iraq—was caused by "Americans" many of which, most of which in fact, were also Christians.]
That said, whoever causes death and destruction to anything on this planet besides rats, cockroaches and mosquitoes, sorry, I am against.

It is really good that the two Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects have been taken out of where they can do further harm. Technology, social media and such were essential and very helpful in this process. And it's great that many people, including close friends of mine, were on lockdown today are now free to move about. But our work is far from over. Stomping out a flameis one thing, but fixing the thing that caused the flame in the first place is another. We have to on a big picture basis look what made these guys want to do what they did, conceive of and then actually carry it out. The president of Bolivia said something to the effect that he will consider his country evolved not when the poor all drive cars, but when the rich take buses. In other words, as long as people in this world are suffering, hungry, exploited, abused and lied to, then there will be this problem. We have the physical resources in the world today, and the wherewithall, that everyone should have a roof over their heads plus adequate food and drink, the basic, breathe easy comforts of life.
Completely false about Islam. Prepare to be deleted for more of your prejudiced fiction.
methinks that these people who follow the radical
Islamic-Muslim views and actions have a
demented view/belief in what Islam is all about ?
also
so called Christians seem to have and continually are using those 'weapons of mass destruction' and then
are SHOCKED when they are attacked ....

I saw "Jim's" comment before it was rightfully deleted, regurgitating the moronic, baseless line about how since the guns in Boston and other recent massacres were obtained "illegally" that gun control measures such as extended background checks wouldn't have made a difference. On what authority do those who say this operate? There is no basis in fact or reality for this contention. It is a mathematical truth that if guns are not so plentiful, and if they are harder to obtain overall, that the probability of massacres like the tragically all too many in recent times will significantly diminish. One who fancies himself a numbers and science and history man like "Jim" could only deny or oppose this view if in fact in reality he was truly an attention seeking contrarian.
And obviously, if background checks were extended to gun shows and online purchases etc. it would reduce the chances of these illegal guns being used in violent crimes. Most of the guns used for that purpose in New York City come from states where there aren;t background checks.
