The tax system is subject to abuse by powerful forces that buy influence like corporations and unions. The best fix is flat or flatter rates with zero deductions. All should pay something (maybe five percent), even those fifty percent of the people with low incomes. If they have no skin in the game they do not care what the politicians are doing.

PS IRS people and politicians who broke the law should go to jail.

Thanks for the link Robert, what a magnificent speech, and what comic timing.

In his deleted comment, Jim refers to President Obama as "an American." Can we consider this some kind of progress?

That was indeed a terrific speech. Thanks for sharing and posting Robert and Michael. What an inspiration for young graduates and all people. I especially admired his words on being a good father/parent, and his message to live with compassion and connection to one another, reaching out and helping those who need it most. We've got a fine President!( In addition to his "Presidential duties" he has to deal with constant opposition and ignorance in Washington- a tough, f'""ing job...) ps- In answer to your above question Robert: doubt it.

Me too Jen. He also calls Obama "Black". Yet his Mom is Anglo Saxon. In Judaism, the Mother is the dominant parent in terms of heredity. So it could just as well be said that Obama is "white" although, as a man I met in the streets of Philly a decade ago observed in indicating his skin and mine: "I'm not black, I'm brown! And you're not white, you're pink!" Which goes to the point that we are not labels, we are flesh and blood and breathing and thinking and feeling. Except for Jim, as much as I try to give him the benefit of the doubt, he is really just a label, and a labeler at that (I'm sure he's in the union too, reaping the benefits while speaking out against them).

I believe he's a broker, Robert.
