AND DEMOCRATIC HONESTY

Here. I like this guy.

[Thanks to my friend Alameda Tom's site BIRTH OF THE COOL for this great commentary on Grayson.]

More Democratic Honesty?

The health care debate started in May with Baucus’s Senate committee convening it’s first hearing. 15 or so “stakeholders” were invited to speak. Baucus blocked testimony from advocates of the single payer option, saying it had no chance of passing. Fortunately a half dozen doctors rose up in their seats, one after another, and demanded single payer be considered. They were arrested. When asked afterward what the protest meant Baucus said “We need more police.”

5 months later, Alan Grayson (bless his heart), apparently without the knowledge of the Democratic leadership, said what should have been said from the beginning.

What’s refreshing and startling about Grayson is he is not following the Democratic playbook.

The face of the Democratic Party is not Alan Grayson. Barak Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and Max Baucus are the people who are running the show. None of them would ever say anything close to this. (Here Jon Stewart really captures the tone & style of the Democratic leadership.)

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think the Democrats will learn anything from Grayson.

(Instead of pimping for big corporations to win advertising dollars Democrats should run videos like this to counter wingnut death panel scare tactics.)

The Democrats will soon turn their attention to that scary threat, GLOBAL WARMING. Here is an update, from the West. I could slap my skis on today if I had a mind to.

SNOW PILING UP: Idaho school kids enjoy 'earliest snow day in history'...

Colorado ski resort boasts 'earliest opening day in 40 years'...

i said it before and i'll say it again, " yes we can has morphed into no we won't. William Greider pulled the covers on the Democratic Party over ten years ago in a book whose sub title was , 'who will tell the people'

I don't like this guy -- I LOVE him. What I truly enjoyed in that clip was how Blitzer and his panelists were so uncomfortable with Grayson's in-your-face-take-no-prisoners stance. They totally ignored the substantive (and unrebutted) truths he was putting forth, and tried over and over and over and over to get him to admit that he was being rude. It's almost like Michael Moore was morphed into Grayson's body. Every moment of it was sublime. Or, remember John McEnroe vs. Borg, Conners, Villas, or anyone else. People squirmed, but they were mesmerized.

Democrats, those great defenders of honesty in government, beat back attempts to have Rangel removed. What’s a little tax evasion and lies on Congressional financial disclosure forms. After all, Rangel is only the head of tax writing Ways and Means committee. Rules and particularly tax rules are only for the little people and non Democrat politicians. Actually if he can only hang on until 2010 he could be helpful in ousting many of his Democrat comrades.

Democrats defeat GOP attempt to remove Rangel

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Republicans failed Wednesday for a third time to oust Rep. Charles Rangel as chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, but they kept the political spotlight on his ethical problems.
The House voted 246-153 along mostly partisan lines to refer a GO

Priceless. The young lady (don’t watch CNN, don’t know her name) looked like a 13 year old giving her first book report at a new school. These self-appointed pundits are lost without media approved and tested “talking points”.

Speaking of dazed and confused, the little soldier is having trouble contributing anything relevant.

Rangel? Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has a list of the 15 most corrupt representatives in Congress - 7 of them are Republicans. His citing of Rangel here is smoke to hide the fact he has nothing to say about health care. The fact is that ethics in Congress is a joke - there is a cease fire between the two parties on this issue, one is corrupt as the other.

Global Warming? Always amusing when he claims that it’s so cold at his cabin there couldn’t possibly be global warming! And my grand pappy smoked 5 stogies a day and lived to 95. Light up everybody!

Butch,

What is the little soldier thing all about?

Both parties have their share of bad actors. Republicans tend to go after their own when they stray. Democrats tend to protect them. Besides Rangel, Wm Cold Cash Jefferson, Dodd and Frank come quickly to mind.
