THE ABSURDITY OF THESE TIMES

Here.

It's absurd, scary, depressing and more. Morehei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido, says "Your spirit is the true shield." And Maya Angelou once mused, "They say geniuses use ten percent of their brain, and normal people use five percent. Imagine if normal people used fifteen percent and geniuses used twenty percent. The very idea of war would be laughed out of the room." If we have any desire to evolve and make this world a better place for future generations, it is imperative that we learn to resolve conflicts with dialog, tolerance and understanding, rather than succumb to the fear based paranoic ignorance of thinking that guns are an absolute. At best, they are a necessary evil that we should be striving to do away with.

dear robert,
i am reminded of an observation a friend of mine made about wil-e-coyote's obsessive persute of the roadunner. he inevitably wound up of a cliff suspended for a moment before he plummeted to the earth and he would whip out a sign pointing to himself that said 'GENIUS'
being that i've had some similar experiences myself and i too happen to be a cerified 'GENIUS' i have come to the conclusion that there is apparantly no corollary between intelligence and good judgment.

When in doubt, quote the Beatles! ;-) That's always been my fallback, although in this case, there no instance I can imagine where "happiness" and "gun" belong in the same sentence or thought.

As for intelligence and good jugdgement, in my view if there is not good judgement, then there is no intelligence. A facile brain that serves up bullshit, lies and hatefulness in a fast, wordy manner may to some appear as intelligent but really it's a wasted mind that is actually a fast operating bullshit machine!
