The quality of the video isn't great, but the vibe transcends that to deliver the perfect antidote to these troubled times from an earlier even more troubled time (1970 to be exact). Hey, it made me smile.

When I was 10,
I thought I was "Irish,"
even though I was
born in the USA.
When I was 20,
I thought I was "Black,"
even though my skin
is pink & freckled,
my hair is straight,
and I have no
African ancestry.
When I was 30,
I thought I was "queer,"
even though I was
married and had
two children, and
most of my fantasies
& obsessions & com-
pulsions & attractions
were and had always
been (up until then)
about women.
When I was 40,
I thought I was a
"movie star," even
though the movies
were terrible, and
I was terrible in
them, and almost
no one knew them,
or who I might
have been in them.
When I was 50,
I thought I was
"enlightened," even
though I wasn't.
But of course I was
and am—enlightened,
as I was and still am
—an Irish-Black-
Queer-Movie-Star.

Damn, that's a lot of good stuff. I forgot how beautiful Johnny Nash was.
Thanks- there's so much more even, but a lot of You Tube stuff is the audio only with a still of the album art all through, and I want to see the live performance (even if lip-synched). ALSO, i meant to say THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF THE WANDERERS is just about the best film opening I can remember.

It's definitely not Beaches or The Joy Luck Club, Jen,just testosterone driven guy stuff!
It's a great opening Robert, but a few favorites of mine in a similar vein are the openings to WEST SIDE STORY and SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.
Oh, and BLACKBOARD JUNGLE, that military drum beat turning into "Rock Around the Clock."
