PATTY ANDREWS R.I.P.

Never met her, but she always seemed to be family somehow. She's the youngest, the one in the middle who takes the solo in this not so great video copy of the scene from the movie where she and her sisters sang "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B"—she was about to turn 94 I believe. Good for her.

GUNS MUST BE ELIMINATED FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. MUST BE ERADICATED FROM OUR LAND. NOT MORE GUNS, AS JIM AND OTHERS THINK WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT ELIMINATION OF GUNS. PEOPLE WITH GUNS KILL PEOPLE. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR GUNS.

They were unbelievably talented. It's rush, even today, to watch this clip. As the youngest of five (as you know) in a music-loving family with eclectic tastes, I was very aware of the Andrews Sisters as part of the background music of boyhood.

Agreed Robert. And tpw: one of so many things we share that makes our friendship vital.

This in a way was the end of innocence, when wearing military garb symbolized unity. Yesterday there was news about how a top S.E.A.L. sniper with 160 kills was shot point blank at a shooting range. Tragic, yet ironic, and one more indication that guns are an abberation of God's will and are something we must evolve beyond as a civilization and species.
