Lally,
I find all of this crazy and very scary! I went to a rally last Saturday at the Capital (50-State Rallies to Save the American Dream) along with 3,000 public workers. I can only hope the Wisconsin teachers can stay strong. I have been a proud union supporter for over 24 years and it is very sad to see how the right sees us. To think how hard our ancestors worked and died for our rights and how quickly they want to take it away. Not far off from the Ludlow Massacre. Very scary. Stay Warm.

I hear you Loyeen. My Irish grandparents and father and uncles and deceased older cousins et. al. must all be spinning in their graves.
Dear Lal:
With all that has been coming down on the labor movement, I am reminded of something that you turned me on to when I was about 21: “Rebel Voices, an IWW Anthology.” That book had a huge effect on me. You loaned me your copy and I immediately went out and got my own. The thing I remember the most about it is just how scary and threatening the IWW was to management, the robber barons, and the greed-head corporatists. That is why they used every means possible to destroy the IWW. Too bad they were ultimately successful.
Somewhere along the way I lost my copy of “Rebel Voices” (I think I loaned it out and never got it back) but I’m going to see if I can get it from Amazon. I’d like to have a copy at hand in these troubling times.
As a personal favor I’m asking you to write a separate post discussing “Rebel Voices,” what it meant in the past and what it means now. I’ll bet there are few in your audience who even know about the book. I’m guessing you still have your copy. I’d love to see a scan of the cover. That would bring back some memories for sure. (The copies they are selling on Amazon have different covers now).

Tom, you guessed right. I do still have my original copy. And I'll scan it write a post tomorrow if I have time, if not in the next few days. Thanks for reminding me and the rest of us.
