WILL THEY RETRACT THIS BIG LIE?

So it turns out for the first time in years the USA is exporting more oil than it's importing. We are using less foreign oil than under Bush/Cheney and exporting more. So the big question is, will anyone on the Republican and Tea Party rightwing side acknowledge that Obama has achieved what they've been screaming about and criticizing Obama and the Democrats for, i.e. making us more dependent on foreign oil now that that has been proven to be incorrect?

Or...will they continue to lie about that?

Whatcha think?

Well, of course they will continue to lie. Our friend will soon provide those lies and excuses for us.

what a skewed, short-sighted, narrow-minded utterance. there is too long a sad history of the havoc on human life wreaked by unregulated enterprise. any real student of history would know this.

Plus more lies. In fact almost every word. Every aspect of oil exploration, exploitation, production, refinement, etc. is up under Obama. Enough is enough. And as for oil prices, US citizens pay some of the lowest in the world due to tax subsidies for the oil corporations. as we do some of the lowest prices in the world on manufactured products, electronics, etc. due to outsourcing labor to sef-like conditions in poorer or less democratic lands. Et-endlessly-cetera. We, you and me who live in this great country, pay the price, which is extremely lower than most of the rest of the world, while the rest of the world suffers the consequences of our energy pollution resulting in global warming leading to climate change which is destroying small island countries and ruining economically and physically such low lying countries as Bangladesh etc. as waters rise et-endlessly-cetera.

Yes, Europe pays more per liter than we pay per gallon, for a long long time now under multiple administrations.

I just erased a very long response- why bother. Jim, I have studied history and i never want to see this country go back to the America you want. All the money in the hands of a few, a tiny middle class and the great mass of underpaid workers working under unsafe and unhealthy working conditions. That is what your policies will bring this country to.

Amen Tom. Thankfully many more people than we see on the s"news"z are aware and not brainwashed by the Fear-publicans. There is hope. President Obama's speech today was affirmative and definitive. Jim lives in a world apart from reality and truth.

Obviously, we want to pay less and use less, but the only way this can happen is for population to shrink, and/or for people to find other ways to move about.

I hate paying more at the pump, but I abhor the consequences of burning fossil fuels. We're all in a dilemma here. History has lunged forward in a channel lubricated by grease--

what's that line from Lowell--"a savage servility slides by on grease" ?

As long as population increases, the "need" side of the equation keeps expanding. As long as people cry out for "more! more!" there will be exploitation, and entrepreneurs willing to facilitate it. All the whining and sensible discussion won't move us one millimeter closer to "green" options. The demand has to be reduced, period.
