I'm still without what was my lifelong compulsion for listmaking that disappeared after brain surgery. But, like the last list, here's one that comes from my iTunes library which I am compulsively going through alphabetically to make sure I've listened to each song (almost all of which I've heard many times before, including before anything like an iTunes library).
This one was just my noting the songs in my iTunes library whose titles begin with the word "one:"
ONE DRAW Rita Marley
ONE FLIGHT DOWN Norah Jones
ONE FOOT IN THE GUTTER Thelonious Monk
ONE FOR DADDY-O Cannonball Adderly
ONE FOR MY BABY Bill Charlap
ONE FOR MY BABY Frank Sinatra
ONE FOR MY BABY Johnny Mercer (who wrote the lyrics)
ONE FOR MY BABY Fred Astaire
ONE HAND, ONE HEART Carol Lawrence & Larry Kert (original West Side Story cast LP)
ONE IRISH ROVER Van Morrison
ONE MINT JULEP The Clovers
ONE MONKEY DON'T STOP NO SHOW Stick McGhee
ONE MORE CUP OF COFFEE Bob Dylan (Desire)
ONE MORE NIGHT Bob Dylan (Nashville Skyline)
ONE MORNING IN MAY Bill Charlap
ONE NIGHT IN A LIFETIME Donna Summer
ONE O'CLOCK JUMP Count Basie
ONE O'CLOCK JUMP Lester Young
ONE OF THESE DAYS Mose Allison
ONE OF THESE THINGS FIRST Nick Drake
ONE OF US MUST KNOW Bob Dylan (Blonde On Blonde)
ONE PART BE MY LOVER Bonnie Riatt
ONE STEP CLOSER U2
ONE THING Luscious Jackson
ONE TOO MANY MORNINGS Bob Dylan (The Times They Are A-Changin')
ONE WAY OR ANOTHER Blondie

a few suggestions:
ONE DAY AT A TIME - John lennon
ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER - Three Dog Night
ONE -U2
You're right, I should have all of them. It's amazing how many tunes I've accumulated on the computer and yet still haven't caught up with what once were my record and CD collections (I never had tapes, I hate the way tapes look and work just aesthetically).
I was gonna say "ONE-U2" too.

Yeah, can't believe I haven't uploaded (or downloaded?) that yet.
The amazing thing too is that even though i've got close to 5,000 tunes already in my iTunes library, and there are still so many missing, even so, when I look or rather listen to the songs on the list above many of them could be at the top of any list I might make of top favorite songs! I mean Nick Drake's ONE OF THESE THINGS FIRST is one of the greatest songs and recordings I can think of! Let alone the more well known tunes on the list. How great it is that despite the vagaries and struggles and challenges of life there are still so many of us humans creating "art" that lives in so many of us, or even a few, in ways that make it all worthwhile.
Dad,
I know you Have "One Angry Dwarf and Two Hundred Solemn Faces" by Ben Folds Five somewhere in your cd collection, and I'd add "One Way Out" by the Allman Bros. to your list too. But how am I missing "One of These Things First"? Can I borrow that Nick Drake cd?
Miles, I do have that Ben Folds song but it's title in my iTunes library is "Little Man" The Allman brothers I should get and the Nick drake I will bring up for you.
"One Love/People Get Ready"?
The correct title for the Ben Folds Five song is:
"One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces"
Looking forward to hearing that Nick Drake.
Robert, another one I should have.
And Miles, that's the trouble with iTunes and the Internet in general, it often misclassifies songs and sometimes gets the credits or titles "wrong" according to my LP and CD collection that was (and the few still "is").
And who can forget Brewer and Shipley's "One Toke Over the Line?"
Oh man, haven't heard that in a while. Good thinking Robert.
