HERE'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WRITING FOR AWHILE (BUT SHE DOES IT BETTER)

Read it here.

A father shot his own teenage son today, thinking he was a robber. So tragic. If the gun wasn't there, he might have had to use other means, like using dialog to determine his son's identity.

Terrible.

You're too modest. (I never thought I'd say that.) She does it long but not better. The comments on her piece are interesting too, and often depressing. We all know there are things--like signing off on killings by drones or otherwise--Obama does that are morally offensive. We do, however, live in the real world where morally indefensible actions happen all the time, which is not to excuse the inexcusable. War is inexcusable, but it happens and Obama inherited two of them. And let us not excuse the American people, the majority of whom support torture and capital punishment, which is just a "nicer" way of saying state-sanctioned murder.

Let's not forget, as many of the commenters seem to, that Obama does not act alone. He has Congress to deal with and the Republican Party whose main goal is to deny him reelection. That he managed to get a health care bill through Congress is a major achievement as well as the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. These achievements take guile and cunning . That's how our system works. Obama cannot do what Congress doesn't want him to do, but he doesn't have to do what the Republican Congress often wants him to do. And he doesn't. It's not a simple world.

Well said Bill. Very funny parenthetical comment at the beginning there.

That comment about illegal immigrants recognizing that the Democrat party is not for them but is someone they can negotiate with a bit of a stretch. That illegal thing is a hang up but Reagan got past it. Unfortuately it did not work well. Liberals seem to have a blockage in their minds about civil rights and the Democratic Southern opposition of moderate and converatives. Nothing would have passed without mainstream Republican support. Imagine a Democrat party who empowered student and
parents to pursue excellent opportunities, as existed in DC before Obama killed it.

"Democrat" party? Hmmm.

Yes Bill, that's the red flag. I usually delete this guy, someone I've known since grammar school but has drunk the koolaid and is incapable of any rational discussion (though pretends to be, capable, in some comments after being deleted continuously for awhile because of all the rightwing lies he parrots and I don't want to abide since there's enough out there anyway etc. But you nailed the giveaway, as can be found in all the books and articles and internet blogs and posts that adhere to the deliberate rightwing misinformation and misinterpretation and misdirection. He either buys it whole or is as cynical as his rightwing media masters.

I guess the Kool-Aid makes him not entirely comprehensible to me. Pray that the polls hold and the margins keep increasing. The House and Senate races are looking better, too. I wonder what these guys will do if they get totally overthrown in a landslide.

Jim fails at his own mandate that immigrants (of which he is one) have a command of the American/English language..Agree or not agree with him, his language is non-sensical.
