GILL SCOTT-HERON R.I.P.

Another  creative force gone too soon after years of battling addiction. He was a unique force in the world of poetry, music, performance and recording. A true original. Here's the Rolling Stone obit and the  confounding article from  The New Yorker quoted in the obit. Gone too soon, in more ways than one.

Again - so very sad - as if losing another creative spirit isn't enough. The torture of addiction is ruthless ...

I remember the NY-er very well. I was stunned by what had happened to him and very surprised that they would publish such a raw piece of writing.

Also, because I don't want this to be buried under a post that's several days old, I can only echo Terence's comment "...You are a most generous & appreciative friend---and not just to me, but to so many of your fellow artists. "

So much of "East of West LA's" existence is rooted in your support, even, really, before it existed.
